TOMTOM

Can you just imagine standing in the judgment and hearing God pronounce upon you never ending punishment and you reply, “Behold, I thought…”? Naaman,  the Syrian army commander was a leper. He was told that there was a prophet of God in Israel that would heal him. The king of Syria sent him to the king of Israel saying, “I have sent Naaman my servant to you that you may heal him of his leprosy.”  To begin with, Naaman went to the wrong person. He went to the king instead of the prophet of God.

When the prophet of God sent his servant out to tell Naaman to go wash 7 times in the Jordan River…he became furious and said, “Behold I thought” that Elisha would “come out to me” and “call on the name of the Lord his God” and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.  Then he asked if the rivers of Damascus were not better than all the waters in Israel?  Why can’t I go dip there and be healed?  He had his own preconceived idea of how his healing would occur.  QUESTION! Is man any different today?

It was not until Naaman realized that only by doing what God’s prophet said he must do, would he be healed.  He had to dip 7 times in that muddy river of Jordan.  Today, we must realize that we have to put aside our way and obey God’s way to be saved eternally in Heaven.  Will man ever learn to take the “Behold I Thought” out of religion and just let God direct his steps thru His Holy Word, the Bible?

In many ways, it matters not what I think about religion or what I think is right or wrong.  What matters is my obedience to what God says.  We must all take careful notice of what God asks us to do, and then do it with all our strength. “I know the Lord will find a way for me. If I walk in Heaven’s light, shun the wrong and do the right….I know the Lord will find a way for me!”

Today is a day made by the Lord, given to us by the Lord, a day which bares the imprint of God who made it. The Psalmist said this about every day on planet earth: “This is the day the Lord has made: We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psa. 118:24)

Today is also, more importantly “Sunday, The Lord’s Day, The First Day of the Week.” Today Christians all over the world will celebrate the death of Christ with a “Memorial Feast.” (I Cor. 11:23-26).

Today is also a day that religious folks will celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus….not because the Bible tells us to do this, but because it is a practice of most religious denominations. The church of Christ celebrates the resurrection every first day of the week (Sunday)….in the Lords Supper, because the church of the first century celebrated the resurrection in this fashion. (Acts 20:7) We know for a fact that Christ was crucified for us (Acts 23: 44-46), his earthly body was buried (Acts 23:53). Then on the first day of the week following his crucifixion, 3 days after, he was resurrected (Luke 24:1-42). We sing a hymn from our hymn book, “We serve a risen savior, He’s in the world today, I know that He is living, no matter what men may say.” (Hymn #346)

Facts to be beleved:

  1. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, lived. He rose to great heights of prominence.
  2. Was killed on a Roman Cross.
  3. Laid in a borrowed tomb belonging to Joseph of Arimathaea.
  4. A Great stone was put in the door of the tumb. Tomb Seales! Guarded by Roman soldiers (15 to 60 men).
  5. Body was resurrected.

How strong is your faith in the Gospel of Christ, which includes the fact of the Resurrection of Jesus from the Grave? Have you been crucified with Christ and yet you live, and not really you, but Christ lives in you? (Gal 2:20.

I pity the man or woman who doesn’t believe that Christ lived, died , and was resurrected just for us. Be united with Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection.

Easter Egg Hunt

We will be having our Easter Egg Hunt this Wednesday evening. We will meet at 6:30 instead of 7:00. This will give us time to hide the eggs and get ready. After the hunt, we will have a meal. You don’t need to bring anything…..just kids to hunt. This has always been a favorite of the kids—-and adults too. Come join us for the fun and fellowship this Wednesday evening.

A young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer, was raised going from stable to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm….training horses. As a result, the boy’s education was often lacking. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to do when he grew up. That night he wrote a seven page paper saying that he wanted his own 200 acre ranch with stables and track, with a 4,000 square foot house built on the land.

His teacher gave him an “F” because his dream was unrealistic. She told him that he had no money, his family had no money, he had no land…he needed to rewrite the paper to be more realistic with his ability and resources. After pondering his situation, he turned in the paper to his teacher a second tome with this explanation, “You can keep the “F” and I’ll keep my dream.”

True story..that young man’s name was Monty Roberts and he now owns a 4,000 square foot  house a 200 acre horse ranch. His framed paper describing his dream, sits above the fireplace. His “dream” became a reality. (Chicken Soup for the Soul.)

Our work is infinitely greater than horse ranches..but do we have that kind of persistence and vision? When we do, and we’re able to communicate them to the people, the prospects for success in the church will be incredible. Jesus dreamed of a mustard seed kingdom that would bless the world. (Matt. 13:31,32).

Do you have a dream for your life, your family, the church? Dream Big because MY GOD IS ABLE! (2Cor. 9:8) God is able to do more than we can imagine or think possible.
